Lamar Fike Dies At 75;
Services will be held this weekend in Central Texas for Lamar Fike, a member of Elvis Presley's famed Memphis Mafia, who died in a Texas hospital at the age of 75.
DALLAS (February 19, 2011)-Services will be held next Saturday in Mart for Lamar Fike, a member of Elvis Presley's famed group of friends and employees called the Memphis Mafia.
Fike’s son James said his father, who was suffering from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, died Jan. 21 at a hospital in Arlington.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 at the Littlepage Funeral Home in Mart, about 25 miles east of Waco, according to details posted on various Elvis Presley fan sites.
James Fike says his father played various roles as part of Presley's entourage, including as lighting director, bodyguard and manager of Presley's music publishing group.
Lamar Fike, who was 75, was born in Cleveland, Miss., and moved to Texas in 2006.
